A FARMERS' UNION COMPLAINT t United Press Association.) * CHRISTCHURCH, Thurs. At a meeting of the North Canterbury Executivo of the Farmers' Umion a resolution was received from the Ashburton branch to the effect that the granting of free school books 'by the Dppartmpnt had failed to fulfil its purpose, and suggesting that the grant be discontinued. It was pointed out that children wore not allowed to take books home, and parents had to buy othor hooks for. home use. Mr Leadley stated that- "" tho Union; had asked for free school.: books; but theso were to be uniform books, jind printed by the Government. Mj-' Pntehett said that the Government should provide all books to obviate injury, to tho children's health through having to carry heavy loads of books over long distances to aDd from school. After further discusssion it was resolved to " forward the remit to the Minister of Education. t
