The guests in Warner's Hotel had rather a startling experience, says the "Press," at an early hour the other morning. An enterprising burglar, who ascended by means of the fire-escape, visited several rooms and levied a toll on . the valuables of the unconscious sleepers. In one, however, the intended victim was awakened by the entrance of the burglar, and plnefiily tackled him. A rough and tumble ensued, the guest calling lustily for help. His cries, were heard by- the gentleman occupying the adjoining room, who, after ringing his electric bell in his room, conceived that his duty was nobly done, and returner! to his bed. The night porter, the manager of the hotel, and some others were quickly on the spot, and tho police were telephoned for. On their speedy arrival the nocturnal visitor waa handed over, and, subsequently, on pleading ■guilty, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. He had made a fairly good collection from the rooms visited by him. "Sixty-five years ago, under the dome of St. Paul's, in London, a small -group) of young men had started the V.M.C.A.
