DUNEDIN Saturday. The football matoch Wellington v.---i Otago was played this afternoon oi» Carisbrook Ground, which was in capital order. The weather was fine and i the attendance was about 9000. In tbe first spell the Otago forwards by good i play kept the upper hand, and scored a I try. O'Sullivan also crossed the line, but lost the ball ; and later on Tittpatrick repeated a similar performanceThe Wellington representatives played with dash and opened the second spell with a rush into- Otago territory, and ten minutes later McLeod got a try. Otago made gallant efforts to score, bnt the Wellington defence was sound. From the line out near the quarter -flag- Walshe got possession, and passed to. "B>angi" Wilson, who dodged over thf line, Mitchinson safely piloting' tbe.' ball, over the bar. Shortly afterwards Mitchinson - made a fine swerving run;, and passed to McKenzie, who scored near the poets. Roberts placed a goal. From this on' wards the game was not very interesting, as both teams were tired .after the strenuous game. No further score was made, and the game ended— Wellington 13. Otago 3. Mr A. Downes (Dunedin) made a satisfactory referee. McLeod and Walshe retired, the former with a broken rib and tlie latter with, an injury to his knee. Ivimey also retired hurt, his knee having been wrenched.
