MAITAI V. RICHMOND, The Maitai-Richmond match for the senior championship was very fast and even till the last 15 minutes, when the Eichmond backs fell to pieces. This gave the Maitai good openings, and they took advantage of it by putting on three goals in the concluding stage of the game. ' Maitai scored first, the result of good passing among the fot■wards, ending! in Millar shooting a. goal. Richmond forwards repeatedly got the ball into the circle, but the Maitai backs cleared. Richmond kept up a strong attack, however, the forwards playing well together, and shortly before half-time May shot a good Eoal. The first spell ended Maitai 1, Richmond 1. The second Bpell opened I with some very fast play by the forwards on both sides, and soon after the , start Gill shot Richmond's second goal. This livened, up, the Maitai, and it was not long before Manks made the-score even; then Batchelor, Manlts and Mili lar quickly added goals; the game end- ! ing Maitai 5, Richmond 2.
