Definition of a hack.— Hack. a [ means a horse that has not at time of nomination won a race of a value of 100 soys., or of tho collective value of 250 boys., since Ist August, 1899. 2. All protests must be accompanied by a deposit of X.2 (with the exception of trots, when tho deposit must be £5), which shall be forfoited should the ). Stewards consider the protest frivolous !■ or vexatious. i, 3. All nominations close at the Secretary office, Nelson, on Friday, 12th March, at 9 p.m. t 4. Nominations must bo made in I writing, addressed "Secretary Jockey ' Club, Nelson"; or, if sent by telegraph must be confirmed by letter first mail afterwards, and to be accompanied by the necessary fees; also name, age, colour, sex, and pedigree of tho horse, and colours to be worn by rider or driver. Any owner neglecting to furuisb this information at time of nomination will be fined £5. 5. The flat races will be run under tho rules of the New Zealand Hules of ! . Eacing. The Trotting events will bo under the Eules of the New Zealand Trotting Association. 6. The winner of any race, after the • declaration of weights, may bo rehandicapped. 7. Eulo 163, Rules of Trotting.— g By the entry of, or endeavouring to |. enter a horse, every person having, or subsequently acquiring any interest in such horso, shall be deomed to accept I. all the conditions and restrictions imposed or implied by these rules, and to " be barred from questioning the action or conduct of the club or any other 3 _ body holding a sports meeting, or if l_ any official of the club or such other body in respect of such horse or any ; person connected therewith, otherwiso than is provided for in Part XXX. j 8. The names of the trainer and owner, or owners, must be included in all acceptance forms when acceptances are sent in, in default of which the owner or trainer may be fined a sum j not exceeding £5, or disqualified. 9.
