THE SATURDAY LATE NIGHT.

After having observed the weekly half-holiday on Saturday for 12 mouths th^ city from last week reverted to Wednesday. In order to celebrate the restoration of the lato Saturday night, business people in town gave a guarantee to the Railway Department for a special train from the country. This train arrived from Kiwi at 4 p.m. on Saturday, carrying about 400 passengers. The ordinary train arriving at 7.40 brought in another 350 passengers. The night being fine, city people turned out in force, and the streets presented a busy appearance. The country people left town at 10 o'clock, tho outgoing train carrying about 750 passengers. Tho railway ofiicials were agreeably surprised at the good order that prevailed throughout the home journey.
