A HOKITIKA PROTEST.

HOKITIKA, Friday. Very strong exception was taken at the Borough Council meeting this evening to the persistent refusal of the Mines Department to pas the necessary regulations in the Public Works Amendent Act last session, giving power to lease water rights lor developing electrical power for mining and other purposes to privala companies. The delay is most disastrous to mining interests here.
