WAIMEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING.

TUo monthly meeting of the \\aimea County Council was held to-day Thero were present: Crs. P. Best (Chairman) Everett, Drummond, Hoult; Macmahon; Bewets-ou; 0.11. FINANCE. Payments were authorised as follows:—Laud Funds Thirds Account. £4; Contractors' Doposits Account. £2; General Account, .£1062. The statement of bank balances was as follows:— Dr.; General Ac. £6825. Cr.: Contractors' Deposit Account, £3; Interest Account. No. 1 (loans), £132; Do. No. 2 (Ngatimoti Bridge) £30; Do. No. 3 (Motueka Biver Suspension Bridge), £3; Land Funds Thirds Account, £303. ENGINEER'S EEPOBI. The County Engineer (Mr .T. G. Littlejohn) in his monthly report, detailed the Work done in the County during the month. Arising out of tho report, it was resolved that the matter of blinding the metalling at Wangamoa be left in the hands of Cr. Gill aud the Engineer; that the Engineer submit a plan and approximate estimate of the cost of the necessary work in the Waimea river bed just above the Appleby bridge; that the Council declines to entertain the matter of clearing tho willows from the bed of the river near Mrs Eden's; that application be made to tho Nelson Land Bonrad to vest in the Council that piece of Crown land on the west bank of the Waimea river above the Appleby bridge; that the footbridge over the Sherry be ropaired, if prnc tieable and if not. that a new bridge be erected; that the Council repair tho present road leading to W. H. J. Lines' property, Kiwi, and that application bo made to the Government to give sufficient land to make a. deviation of the road so far as to give better access to Mr Lines' property: that the Engineer have the necessary work done on Funnoll '.« road Mouterr. as soon as Mr E. Funncll's letter has been received. The Engineer's report was adopted chairman's befoul The Chairman reported that Mr 11. McKenzii' Minister tor i'ublic Works, had told him that lio had signed au authority for £400 to be spent on widening the Tadmor road. The Council had applied for £1000 for the -work but the Minister had said that they were too late. The Chairman also stated that the Minister had promised that a gate would be placed across the railway line at Tadmor to give access to Mr Duncan's property. — Cr. Drummond thought the expenditure of £400 would make a good road. He was also pleased that the gate was to be placed over the line. .. ■
