A " SMART" SOCIETY SCANDAL.

In a divorce case, Stirling (Laird of Kippendaire, Perthshire) against his wife and Lord Northland, a cross suit is instituted by Mrs Stirling against her husband and Mrs Atherton, who was connected with tlio Yarde-Buller affair. The case is exciting interest owing to revelations of the doings of "smart" society. There were 70,000 words in the newspaper reports telegraphed from Edinburgh. Lord Alverstone, Lord Chief Justice speaking at the Sphinx Club dinner, said he could not imagine anything worse for public morality thau such Divorce Court reports.) (Viscount Northland is the eldest son of tho Earl of Banfurly, formerly Governor of New Zealand.)
