DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT WELLINGTON

THE SCHOOL BURNT DOWN. [Unjtso Pbkss Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The Addington State School was totally destroyed by fire at an early hour this morning. The school was to have been reopened on Monday after the holidays, and it had just been repainted and renovated throughout. The fire started hi a room ia which a new floor had just been laid. There is nothing to show the origin of the outbreak. Among the- property destroyed were tho piano, valued at £65; tho school lending librnry, an which a sum of £200 was spent during the last two .years ; and a number of I cases containing valuable natural history specimens. Workmen's tools were also . burnt, but fortunately no furniture had - feen installed. The insurances are not \ yet available.
