Onehunga is not a most desirable place for a stranger to spend a night in, according to a letter sent to the Borough Council of that place by Mrs Rebecca Stephen, of Roslyn, Dunedin. This lady wrote: "To the Mayor and Councillors,— Ere this reaches you I will be miles away, but for the sake of the many I beg you to help the travelling public. I had occasion recently to stay in Onehunga, and went to a large boa'rdinghouse, but they would not take me in. I remonstrated, and they said : 'That is nothing ; some people have to sleep in sheds and on boats.' I then called at a hotel, and had to go to the bar to ask for a bed. The woman rushed up and showed me my room, and there J I was left. You have the Onehunga Woollen Mills right, at hand, but the I blankets in this place were that old that I they were only fit for floorcloths. Thi." I is all genuine truth I am writing. For mercy sake take some notice of this and help the weary traveller." The letter was referred to tho police. _ THE~PItIZF ADVERTISEMENT.
