TRAIN AND MOTOR CAR COLLISION.

TWO PERSONS INJURED. INCLUDING A NELSON LAD v. [United Peess Association.] PALMERSTON N., Sunday. A sensational motos car aanidtut occurred here on Saturday, whoa Ihe south express collid»d with a Singer motor car containing Mr Wishaw, the well-known land agent, and Mrs Rollet and her six-year-old son. _ 'the party wero returning to Feilding from Wellington, and the car was going fast towards the Alexandria;;, level crossing when the accideut incurred. Mr Wishaw didn't see tho train till nearly in Main-strer-, when he put the brakes of the car full or, ploughing up the road's face. As this could not stop him at the pace the car was going, he opened the I throttle and tried to pass at top ! spoed, slewing as he did so to get tho collision behind. Tho train smashed into the motor car, knocking the . whole car off the line, and turn.ng it over. Mr Wishaw and Mrs Rollet were thrown out of the car, bu: the boy was by some extraordinary means picked up by the cowcatcher of the second locomotive and was lainrJ fifty yards. Tho train was slopped in about its own length. The motor car, all but tho engine, radiator md gear box, was smashed. Mr Wishaw, who had been thrown into a large iron drain pipe, had two of his front ribs smashed and hia ankle s?ra ne.l. Mrs Rollet is bruise* all over "... has no bones' broken. The >h.ld lea a swoUen head, a black «ye, and some bruises. (Mrs J. L. Rollet is the wife of Mr Rollet, of Levien and Rollet, Nelson.
