MAGISTRATE'S COURT
(Before Mr H. Eyre-Kenny, S.M.) MOTUEKA— Thursday. At the sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Motueka on Thursday, judgment for piaintiff was given in the case Abraham Manoy (Mr L. D. Easton) v. Hori Karaka, claim for £9 12s 7d, on dishonoured-promissory note, with costs £1 3s 6d. The case Samuel Cate v. Cecil Talbot, claim for £5, money due under a deed, was adjourned until October 22nd, and leave was given for defendant to file a counter-claim within 14 days from 22nd September. Mr L. D. Easton for plaintiff. F. Schildhauer was sentenced to three months' imprisonment in Wellington Gaol, with hard labour, for disobeying an order of th-3 Conrt. J. G. Deck was fined 10s, and costs 7s, for riding a bicycle at night without a light. For permitting cattle to wander at large, J. Francois and H. Drummond wero each fined 12s 6d, with costs 7s. Mark Grossi was adjudged the putative father of an illegitimate child, and was ordered to pay 7s 6d a week towards its support until it was 14 years of age. Mr Easton appeared for complainant, and was allowed £1 Is costs.
