AMERICAN DRINKS.

The recipes below for the making of American drinks will be interesting in view of the visit of the American Fleet :— Oin Cocktail.— lngredients : One wineelassful of good unsweetened gin, 10 drops of rock candy syrup, 10 drops of orange bitters, a small piece of lemon peel, crushed ice. Method: Half fill a tumbler with small pieces of ice, poui over it the gin, add the syrup and bit ters. then cover and shake well. Strair . into a small glass, place a small pieci of lemon peel on the top, and serve. Martini Cocktail. — Ingredients : Hal a wineelassful of good unsweetene( am. half a wineglassful of Italian ver mouth, six drops of rock candy syrup 12 drops of orange bitters, one smal piece of Jemon peel, crushed ice. Me thod : Half fill a tumbler with crushe< ' ice. pour over it all the liquids, shaki well, then strain- into a glass, and servi with a small piece of lemon peel float ; me on ths surface. Saratoga. — Ingredients : On© wine elassful of old brandy, 20 drops o pineapple syrup, 20 drops of Maras chino. 12 dops of Angostura, bitten half a glass of champagne, two or thre ripe strawberries, shaved ice, lentoi peel. Method: Nearly fill a larg 1 tumbler with shaved; ice ,and pour a ■ the liquids, except tne champagne, ove it. Shake well, straing into anoth* tumbler in which the strawberries an ' lemon peel have been placed, add th ■ ' champagne, and serve at once.
