The old fire-swept buildings of the i e Poet Office block have now been dejd molished, and the site is practically ik ready for building operations. The ig tenders for. the new Post Office build--16 ings, however, are co high, the lowest n " being about £100,000, that it haa been decided not to proceed with the work at present.
