MEETING OF THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE. | Tlie General CommitU-e of tbe Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association met at Richmond on Friday evening, when the officers present were:— Mr J. E. Bartlett, President (in the chair) ; Air P. Higgins, Vice-President : Mr G. Talbot, Treasurer ; and Mr John Glen, Secretary ; aiid"22 out of the 24 members of the Committee. The following new members were elected :— Messrs J. E. Greensill, \v. Martin, J. Q. Mercer, T. McCarthy, C. J. Ruffell, W. Robinson. Mr R. Staples forwarded a guinea as a special prize for the best entiro horse at the forthcoming show. Mr Percy B. Adams (per the President), forwarded two guineas as a speciai prize for tho best dog cart turnout at ■ the show. I M. Carlos and H. Sandow forwarded applications for two side shows. It was resolved on the motion of Mr j Hunt to advertise the coming show in j tlu> "New Zealand Farmer" and other J newspapers. i The election of senior stewards for the ! next show was proceeded with, after which the senior stewards chose their assistants as follows — Draught horses r Mr G. W. Best, senior steward. Assistants, Messrs J. Wadsworth, C. Ching, and '\Y. Schwass. Light horses : Messrs J. Hagen and R. B. Sadd, sr?uior stewards. Assistants, Messrs Hayes Croucher, James Hunt, Robert Coleman, \V. Schwass, S.AVratt, and Batchelor. Cattle : Mr T. B. Chisnall. Assistants, Messrs Charles Challies, Holland, and P. Higgins. Aiiiking competition : Mr Holland. Pigs : Mr Godfrey Best. Sheep : Mr Noble Win, senior steward Assistants, Messrs O. C. Wilkinson, W. Cowin, Ivo Tunnicliffe, H. Palmer, and Ross Gaukrodger. Dogs : Mr Robert Best, Poultry : Mr Clayden. Domestic producer Mr W. B. Robinson, who will choose his assistants. Farm Produce : Messrs John Best and J. Jellyman. { Guassing Competition : Mr Jas Ching and the secretary. Wood choping competition : Mr A. Gibbs, senior steward. Assistants, Messrs J. Wadsworth, W. D. Harkness and G. W. Best. Moyes. | It was resolved on the motion of the i President, seconded by Mr J. Wads- \ worth, that some concrete be laid to form a solid base for measuring the t horses and poni -s. j Mr James Chin^ suggested that the | ' sheep for the guessing competition should j be more uniform in size. Mr G. W. Best suggested that if some i of the catalogues were procurable on the | Monday night, it would facilitate the ' work on the first day of the show. Mr Hayes Croucher considered that there should be a hurdle erected at the lower end of the Park for horses taking th-ir pr^liminai-v jumps. He movej t.. that elfett, but the motiou was iust. < It was agreed that the Secretary should see the railway authorities with regard to trains from Tadmor to Richmond on Show Day. It was urged that the judging should start promptly to time, and tho exhibitors should have their animals ready for measuring, etc. It was considered that a mounted man would give valuable assistance in hunting up people, thus saving much valuable time. '• On tho suggestion of Mr Chas. Ching, it was agreed that an exhibitor having horses in~the different classes should be allowed to place all his horses together along the fence. r Mr James Ching gave notice to move that on tbe second day of tho show hot water be supplied to the public. I The Committee then adjourned.
