FIRES.
A SKATING RINK GUTTED. [Unit-id Pbess Association.l WELLINGTON, Monday. Yesterday the skating rink, in Ing.es-tre-street, which had been closed fof the season the previous day, caught fire, and was gutted excopt in the front portion, in which the stock of skates was stored. The building was owned by Mr T. G. McCarthy, and insured for £1350 in the Phoenix Office. The origin of the fire is unknown. FIRE NEAR GISBORNE. GISBORNE, Monday. A five-roomed cottage at Whataupoko was destroyed by fire yesterday moraine. The place was owned by Mr Stafford and occupied by Mr Nocross. The latter's furniture and effects were insured for £250 in the Ocean office. Later. The insurance on Mr Staff. -de house is £450 in the London and Lancashire office.
