The "Star" gives an emphatic .denial to the statement that the Company had not offered to pay half the fine, and says that the information to the Union was contained in the following telegram:— "Chairman of Directors is willing to contribute half the amount of the fine providing the matter is settled forthwith.—J. A. McCcxlough." The State Miners voted £50 and £20 weekly to assist miners on strike.
