Owing to the misunderstanding of an order the French submarine Ventora, .manoeuvring at Cherbourg, suddenly plunged and struck the rocks at a depth of ten fathoms. Her hull was extensively damaged, and the prbpellors became useless. The coolness displayed -Oy the captain and crew enabled them to, make a miraculous escape.. v
