FIRES.

[United Press Association.} CHRISTCHURCH Friday. Tho factory and unices of the Colonial aud Foreign Agency Company were totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The insurances were £3400 in the Alliance on the building and contents, and £400 in the New Zealand on the building. In connection with the recent big fire, it is stated that one insurance J company in Christchurch has lost more money over the fire than it will collect iv premiums for the next thirty years, not allowing for a single additional loss during that period. DUNEDIN. Tuesday. A large wooden house, situated betweeu George and Fillcul-streets, was destroyed by fire this evening. The building was an old one, and it blazed furiously. Fortunately the wind was light, and the Fire Brigade was able to prevent the spread of tho flames to the cottages by which the building was surrounded. Some of the furniture in the downstairs rooms was saved. The fire is said to have originated in the kitchen chimney. The house was occupied by Mr Chas. Ward and eight others. Both the building and furniture were insured.
