'' ANNUAL MEETING. , The annual meeting of the Nelson ; Navals and Nelson Hilles Association was held in the Nelson Rides' I Orderly Room last evening. Captain ; Simpson, V.D., presided, atid there was ■ a good atendanee <>{ members, including Licutonaiit Watson (Vice-President.) i The Perri'Ury (Captain Stiles) submitted the annual report. Squiies' trophy for the greatest \ number of bulls- eves in succession had . been won by Private Conrov, who obtained nine. The Association's team in the cribbage tournament had been most successful. The thanks of the Association were due to Mr and Mrs Sfallord for organising a very successful social reunion, and to the prerent Company for the use of iis Orderly Room. Sympathy \viis expressed with ' several members who had suffered bereavement during the year. Captain Simpson (Treasurer) read the hnlance-sher-t, showing a credit of 1 £10 14s 9d. Both were adopted amidst applause. A letter was read from the ex-mem-bers Association of No. 1 Company NewZealand Engineers, conveying greetings. The Chairman mentioned that probably the flagship of the Australian Squadron would visit Nelson about Jannary next, and suggested that the crew be entertained. — After some discussion the matter was left to the Committee. The question of holding a progressive euchre party on an early date was referred to the Committee. It was decided to refund to the Secretary monies paid by him for the Association's badges. It was resolved that fraternal greetings be sent to sister Associations in j other parts of the Dominion : also that letters be sent to Messrs C. H. Dement (Wellington) and C. Nash (members of the Association) sympathising with them in their illness. The Chairman presented Mr Squires' trophy to Private" Conroy, which was won by him in the Morris Tube competion. Votes of thanks were passed to the secretary and the treasurer for arduous work done by them on behalf of the Association. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting. Refreshments were then handed round, and a pleasant hour was spent at cribbage, etc.
