WAIMEA COUNTY COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Waimea County Council was held to-day. Present : Crs. P. Best (Chairman), Everett, Beuke, Rollet, Maemahon, Hoult, and GUI. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £1218 were passed for payment. The statement of Bank Balances showed : — Dr. General Account, £5700. Cr., Contractors' Deposits Account, 7s; Interest Account No. 1, £132; Interest Account No. 2. £34 ; Motueka Suspension Bridge Account, £31 ; Land Fund Thirds Account, £124. engineer's report. The Engineer's report for the month was read, and detailed the work in progress. Arising out of the report, it was resolved that the Dart bridge be finished, and that the thirds, as they came in, be devoted to the work. Mr Liltlejohn also presented a report on the timbers available in New Zealand and Australia, with the cost thereof, and the probable life of the various timbers mentioned. Both reports were adopted.
