After a further- conference between the two Houses on the Franchise Bill, the Premier announced that a tentative agreement had been reached. The Council 'undertook to support the amendments and to advocate the bill at the, referendum. The Government had .'done the best it could, and had accepted a compromise only in order that the important business of the oountry might be proceeded with.
