[United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A telegram was received by Inspector Gillies this morning from the constable at Little River to the effect that two young men, Claude Rooney, aged 16, and Lancelot Rooney, agen 21, had been drowned in Lake Forsyth through the capsizing of a canoe in which they were sailing. An inquest was held this morning concerning the death of Charles Hodges, who was found in a dying condition in Derby-street on Saturday afternoon, and expired when being conveyed to the hospital. The jury ro turned a verdict that death was due to injuries accidentally received by being thrown out of a cart. DUNEDIN .Monday. The body of Thomas Walker, , who was drowned while going ashore from the Enterprise dredge at Alexandra on Thursday, was recovered to-day, being dredged up in the buckets of the Manu* heiika dredge. 'MASTERTON, Monday. A young man named Stanley Hansen, twenty-one years of age, was killed today by a dray falling on him. PALMERSTON N., Monday. During the recent flood in the Manawatu river a man named Bell was drowned near Hennesy's mill, at Oroua Bridge. Bell and his mate were crossing the river in a boat on their way to town. The boat was upset and the occupants thrown into the water. Neither of the men could swim ,and Bell was drowned. His mate clutched the boat, and drifted ashore after some time. Owing to the flood dragging operations were impossible, and the body has not yet been recovered. WELLINGTON, Monday. At the inquest on Captain McKenzie, master of the Gamp Hill, who was found dead in his cabin bleeding from a razor wound, a verdict of suicide while temparary insane was returned. The evidence showed that deceased had had a lot of worry with his seamen.
