FIRE ON THE TE ANAU.
PROBABLY CAUSED BY LI. MR. DAMAGE TO CARGO. [United Pbess Association.] WESTPORT, Monday. A fire was discovered in the afterhold of the steamer Te Anau when lying in Westport roadstead on Saturday morning. The hold was full of smoke, but water was poured in, and the outbreak wns subdued. Some cases of cargo were charred and considerable damage was done to the Westport and Greymonth cargo by water. The fire is supposed to have originated m lime shipped at Dunedin. The consignees here are taking delivery of goods under general average pending an estimate of actual damage.
