A RECENT COINCIDENCE. EXPT -VNATION BY THE SAMOAN CHIEF JUSTICE. [United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Monday.
Dr. Srhultz. Chief Justice of German Samoa, is a passenger by the Hauroto. Interviewed with reference to the recent cablegram about Germany's desiens on Tahiti, he said there was nothing in either his visit to Tahiti or in the. visit of the German cruiser to .iiYMiKe any mispicion of Germany's intuition. ' No designs were contemplated. He visited Tahiti continuing his ethnological studies, in which he was deeply interested, an dalso he intended to go into the question of colonisation. That was the sole object of his visit. It was an accident that the cruiser arrived at t^e same time. Thero was no reason why the German warship should not visit Tahiti periodically without being suspected of dark designs on the island.
