A TIRED HOUSE.
Members generally are suffering a recovery after Dominion Day, and only a few in a very tired House are wrestling with the final clauses of the Land Tax Bill. The Premier, who had a very busy day yesterday, admits that ho is rather played out to-night, and nearly everyone will be glad when the sitting is over. Several members are absent at their homes. Others are not able to attend owing to being laid aside with influenza. As a matter of fact,
if the Speaker had done his duty strictly to-day there would have been no sitting of the House. The Standing Orders provide that after prayers the Speaker shall count the House, and if there is not a quorum present the House shall adjourn. To-day, after prayers had be«n read, only 19 members were present, one lesß than a quorum.
