NELSON ROWING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of members of the Nelson Rowing Club was Held at ] Mercer's rooms last evening, and was hugely attended. Mr W. Milner was voted to the chair. Minutes having been read and. confirmed, the thirty-first annual report was read by the "Secretary, Mr F. H. Bethwaite. I The report stated that the only liability of the Club was the mortgage on the boat house of £300. The Club's I assets amounted to £9,25 13s lOd, the I total assets over liabilities being £625 j 13s lOd. The income for the year was | £13Q ss, and the expenditure £125 14s fd, leaving a credit balance of £4 10s | 7d. Four Club races were, decided during the season, but were only fairly j well contested, although the enthusiasm : was keen among crews at times. The i finals were won by . the following : — • Hudsju'-s I-our.*: I.oi.issf.n (stroke), 'Lucas (3), Laurence (21, Morris (bow); Sclanders' Fours : Gully (stroked, , Kitching 13), Merer 12), Cannii -■-.• (bow); Pair oar: McCabe (stroke), Kirk wood (bow) ; Brown and Kerr's j fours : Smith (stroke), Chancy (3), Prussing (2), France (bow). The thanks ' of th? Club were due to Dr Hudson . for a donation of £4 4s, and to Messrs j Brown and Kerr for trophies, for Club i races. The Club was not represented I at any regattas during the season. All . boats requiring attention and repairs I were being attended to by a competent I workmen. Gully and Redworth ; Delegates to the Rowing Ascot i-ition, Messrs A. Leaver, Falla, and Low. The matter of instructing the Club's delegates to the Nelson Rowing Association to move that the headquarters of the Association be removed from Westport to Nelson was referred to the Committee. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 12th, it being sti ted that that was the only day that would suit for a considerable time. Messrs Smith and Bethwaite were deputed to wait on the Sailing Club with a view to securing co-poeration on the opening day. The arrangements for the opening day were left in the hands of the Committee. The matter of securing coxswains for the season was referred to the Committee. Complimentary references were made to the valuable services rendered the Club by Dr Hudson during many years. It was resolved that a letter be sent to Dr Hudson thanking him for the great interest he had displayed in the Club's welfare. Votes of thanks to the Press and to the Chairman closed the proceedings.
