After consulting Professor Piles, Vice President of the Institute of Naval Architects, regarding plans and specifications. Commander Colquhoun, the Commonwealth Naval Adviser, has invited shipbuilders on the Admiralty list to tender for eight destroyers and four first class torpedoers for the Australian navy. Two vessels of each class will be completed and tried here, and the others will be shinped in sections. (Received lO'IO a.m ) MELBOURNE, Friday. With reference to the cable announcing that tenders had been called for torpedoers, Mr Deakin states that tenders have not been called, but it is supposed that shipbuilders have been notified that the vessels mentioned in the message might be required, so aa they could hold themselves in readiness to tender.
