Destructive fire at Masterton.

A firo yesterday morning gutted the > premises of Walkorand Thomas' boot shop, Young, tobacconist, and Reboy restaurant keeper, and provision .mor chant, and damaged the upstairs part of Maltby's footing galleiy. The des troyed buildings were valued at £2000 and were insured for £1080. The insurances on the property are mostly small. Some of the occupants of the buildings had difficulty in escaping. , Later. The insurances on the fire are : Thomp son, £195 in the Australian Alliance office, £95- in fine' New Zealand ; Monro, owner of 'the buildings, £150 in the North British; ' £100 in iho North * Queensland., £300 in the Northern, £200 in the Alliance Holfoway, £350 in the Northern; Young, £100 in the South British. f
