A HORSE RIDING ESCAPADE.
At the Magistrate* Court tbj# morning, William Nice! pleaded gniity U> having unlawfully and negligently viaden a horse in Trafalgar-street OB * recent Saturday afternoon. Sergeant Dou^an explained the arcumstaocei leading to the chare* heioiz laid, staling that the acctMed had taken a marc form Mr Storey's itahWt and had ridden, bare back, down Trafalgar s'j.-cct Reluming to the elabtea Uie mare bolted, and stopped on the footpath, knocking down a woman and a hoy. The accused h'tmseV alto got a nasty scalp wound.The accused said he belonged to the scow Oban, and had been given permission to take the mare, as the.'owner said she was getting stiff. . _ : ' The Magistrate took into consideration that the accused had been injured, and was not well off, and imposed a fine of 5s with costs. ' Two witnesses claimed 5s each for ekpenses, whereupon the fine was reduced to 2s 6d. The costs amounted to £1 Is.
