NEW GUINEA LABOUR.
THE NEW ORDINANCE. [United Peess Association. —CopsBIQHT.] MELBOURNE, Monday. Under the ordinance dealing with native labour in Papua, which received the assent of the Federal Executive, it is made illegal to remove a native out of the territory, or to transporn him more than 40 miles from home, excepting in gazetted labour districts. Permits are granted to carry natives as seamen and boatmen and personal attendants to Australia and the islands of the Western Pacific under specified conditions, rcrnrity being given that they will be returned. SYDNEY. Tuesday. Large areas have been recently applied for in New Guinea for rubber production and other tropical industries.
