SYDNEY COAL LUMPERS' DISPUTE.

DANGER OF ITS SPREAD. [United Pbes3 Association.] SYDNEY, Monday. A mass meeting of Sydney coal lumpers resolved to appoint delegates lo lay the position before the Newcastle Coal lumpers and the South Coast miners. Should the outcome of this be that men in other parts take any steps to sympathise with the Sydney Union, the trouble would become more serious than at present. Picketing in connection with the coal lumpers' dispute is being extensively employed. The pickets persuaded numbers not to accept work under the new conditions. Policmen aro stationd in the vicinity of the Employers' Bureau, but so far their services have not been required. There are two isolated cases whore violent methods were resorted 10. It is reported that at Byrne's Wharf the police had to interfere to rescue a non-unionist, who was roughly handled, and a second case occurred at Miller's Point. The situation with regard to the ,-oal lumpers' trouble is becoming more icutr, owing to the increased demand for coal. As the result of new shipping arrivals the employers find themselves unable to cope with the demand. A few more men have signed the agreement to work for the Employers' Bureau, but men are not coming forward in any thing like the numbers required to ensure expeditious bunkering. Neither side shows any intention of weakening.
