(From Our Own Correspondent.) A public farewell not ial was accorded to tho Rev. W. B. and Mrs Scott by the people of Havolock on Tuesday even" ing, the ICth inst., on the occasion of their departure fur Mr Scott's new circuit at Kapongi. Taranaki. Mr W. H. Smith was in ihe chair. Soles were given by Miss A. Wells, Mr Irwin, Mrs Thorns (Nelson), Mis Ching, Mrs Irwin, and Mr D. Wells; duets by Xt and Mrs Ching and Mr and Mrs Irwin ; and a recitation by Mr W. B. Scott. The Chairman then presented Mr Scott wiih a cheque of sub tantial proportions as an expression of the goodwill A wliich Mr and M s bcott are held by the people of Hai clock, ln responding, Mr Scott said that although the Havelock Cir.-uit was a hard oi.e to work, yet ha was sorry to leave, and thanked all for their expression of esteem. Mr Scott had proved himself a live member of the Marlborough Edncition Board, aud had very materially aiiied education in the district he reprrfented. As a minister he had been indefatigable ia his work, nnd much Listing guud weuld result from his labours in Havelock. Mrs Hzott had proved herself an able assistant, a; d would be greatly misseC. A tast supper, prepired by the ladies, was handed round, to wliich all did justice. On WednesJay last, at Blackball, Miss Gertrude Warner, of Blackball, was married by the Rev. A. VV. Stace to Mr I F. Cook, of Ldendale, Southland. We shall in all probabiliiy be losing the services of the headmaster of the local scl.ool, Mr Irwin, who l.as been accepted for the head tcachership at Ll iwaka. ilr lmin has pro ied himself a very capable teacher, and duiing his itay here has brought the children aloDg splendidly.
