THE HOP CROP. The hop crop is said to have turned out only fair to middling, the red spider having wrought great havoc. This, combined with the broken weather during harvesting operations, has prevented a profitable yield. One grower did -not pick any of his crop, owing to the depredations of the spider. He abandoned his garden for the benefit of the insect, and let it have ita fllj. The scarcity of pickers at the early part of the season accounts for some of the losfes sustained.
