The Chief Court at Lahore lias upheld the conviction and sentences. ref c-ently imposed in connection witn the i newspaper "Punjabi" sedition case, but i ' changed the conditions of imprisonment from "vigorous" to "simple." The Chief Judge remarked that he would have been pleased to reduce the sentence had the prisoners expressed contrition. = While the prisoners were being conveyed to the gaol the crowd stopped the ' carriage, pelted the police in charge c with mud, decorated the prisoners with s garlands, and then, forming a proces- ■" siou along the mall, assaulted every '; European who was met, until the police J dispersed £he gathering.
