A NEW COURT OF CRIMINAL APPEAL.
THE BELFAST BY-ELECTION, (Received April 19, 8.7 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. Sir J. W. Walton, Attorney-General, introduced a Bill to establish a Court of Criminal Appeal, consisting of seven High Court Judges, who would allow or disallow appeal on depositions' and written statements submitted to them. The Court is empowered if necessary to take fresh evidence and also to give prisoners in straitened circumstances the assistance of counsel. The Patents Design Bill, was read a second time. " , The by-election for Belfast North, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Sir Daniel Dison, resulted in;; the return of Mr George Clark, Unionist, 6021, defeating Mr W. Walker, Labour, who polled 4194.
