Dr F» A. Faught calls attention j to the importance of the nasal ' functions of warming, moistening, j and purifying the air breathed in. ( If these results are not properly, attained the lungs are bound to suffer. Children who breathe imperfectly at miiffht, or who saem dull and backward at mental development, should be thoroughly examined. Dr Faughi enumerates tho troubles which in varying cony binajions are found in> the noses oft these children. In spite of the prevalence of adenoid diseaso (a, form of tumour) in the pharyngeal vault •(Ibehind the nose, mouth, etc.)l and . the abunidant opportunity offered- for i its study, we twe still in doubt aa J to its true underlying cause. Ulti- • mately the chronic rhinitis (nasal catarrh or cold' and' disturbances of nose breathing gives rise to ear troubles.
