Wakefield and Wai-iti. JUVENILE ROAD RACE, j Considerable interest was taken in the Juvenile Oddfellows' bicycle rod race on Saturday last, the course being from Mr G. Johnson's shop in Wakefield, to Mr E. Fairey's store, Brightwater ,and back to Wakefield, a distance of from ten to eleven miles. Six boys started, and all faced the starter, ' viz., B. Fowler and P. Watson, scr., M. Kidminster, lmin., A. Tunnicliffe, R: Arnold, N. Thomas, 2miiis. The result, after an exciting finish, was as follows : — Kidminster, 29Jmins, Ist; B. Fowler, 29mins, 2nd. Watson had the misfortune to get a puncture about 200 yards from home, and ran with his machine, getting third place. Tumiicliffe had to dismount half a mile from home owing to cramp in the legs. A number of people assembled to witness the event, which is an annual fixture.
