DEATH OF MR W. H. EYE!
A MARLBOROUGH PIONEER ADMINISTRATOR. [United Pb_s Association.] BLENHEIM, Saturday. Mr W. H. Eyes, whose death occurred at Wellington yesterday morning, was the fifth superintendent of the Marlborough' province, and lie defeated Sir Frederick Weld,, afterwards Premier, for Wair'au, in the, General Assembly of 1860. .He, .continued,. to represent Wairaii till. 1870, wherj he resigned in order to take the positions of Provincial Secretary and Commissioner of Crown Lands, r From first ;to last Mr Eyes held 12 public positions, ranging an -importance from M.H.R. to Sheriff. He came to Wairau in the fifties, and became owner of sheep runs near Blenheim. He-was credited with great executive and financial ability, which faculties he brought to bear in retrenchment during his period as Superintendent in 1865. A married daughter, Mrs Duckworth, resides in Blenheim, and also two unmarried daughters. A married son is at Rai Valley, Marlborough, and' another is in the Civil Service down South.
