NELSON RIFLES.
On Tuesday last the corps held a competition for Messrs E. Buxton's first class, and Mr F.-Harford's, second 1 class. Ths 700 yards range was used for the first time, . and although a largo number of raen had never shot, there before, the scores were very fair.In the first class Sergeant Mitchener secures a second leg-in for Messrs BujCr ton and Co.'s trophy, and-j&rivate Corbett a leg-in for Mr~F?vHarford's. The conditions were 500 and; 700 yards, seven shots at each. The same scores count for Messrs ' Brpwrt and Kerr's. aggregate, first class :—
On Saturday next the company will fire a match against ther-Nelson Defence Club.
