DEATH-KNELL OF THE SPARKING SYSTEM.
I LONDON, Monday. Herr Valdemar Poulsen, a Dane, the inventor of a.sjstem of wireless telegraphy which substitutes a I continuous flow of lenergy for the old method of transmission l>y inteimilitent 'sparks, is now in London. Yesterday he lectured at the Queen's Haili and gave a demonstration of his system, showing how the production of contitnuous ' undamped electric waves would be suitable for wireless telegraphy ' and telephony. Sir William H. Preece, President of the Institution of Oivil Engineers and consultinrr eng-ineer to tha General Post Office and Colonies, who presided, stated that Herr Poulsen's lecture sounded t'he death knell of the sparking system at present used in wireless ielcffraphji.
