SERIOUS HORSE ACCIDENT.

A YOUNG MAN "INJURED AT DOVEDALE.

A serious accident occurred at Dovedale SfcT-£2fS«?HJ s rfking his head with great force. Dr. Hamilton was immediately summoned hZ Wak^field, and on examination he ordered the patient to be taken to the Hospital. Arrangements were made under the instructions of the doctoi, and the injured man was conveyed to Nelson in an express arriving at the Hospital at 6.45 on Saturday evening. Though every care was taken by the driver tho journey must have been exceedingly painful to the sufferer but contrary to expectations of the doctor he did not lose consciousness. At the Hospital Dr. Mackay ascertained that Mr Win had received a depressed compound fracture of the skull. An operation was skilfully performed on Saturday evening and it proved successful in \his morning we learn that Mr Win is getting on well, with every prospect of a recovery. This is the third mishap that has occurred in the Dovedale district within about a fortnight. The first was an accident with an adze when Mr W: Cowin was severely cut just below the knee. He was attended to by Mr J. W. Win, who had to put several stitches in the cut. The other accident occurred to a school girl (a daughter of Mr H. Thorn) who was pushed off a gate by a playmate, and had both bones of the wrist fractured. She was taken in Wakefield for medical attendance, and is now on a fair way to recovery.
