ST. JOHN'S METHODIST CHURCH.
THE SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. The anniversary services in connection with St. John's Methodist Sunday School were conducted yesterday morning, afternoon, and evening in St. John's Church, Hardy street. The special feature of the services was the singing by the children, who for some time past have been learning several new and exceedingly pretty hymns under the conductorship of Mr A. JP. Lucas. The choir gallery and the children's platform were prettily decorated with (lowers and greenery, which especially in the evening gave a very pleasing effect. This work was undertaken by a number of willing workers under the able supervision of Miss Grace Bond. Children's Day at St. John's is always looked forward to with great interest, and yesterday, despite the unfavourable weather conditions, there were large gatherings at all the meetings. The services on all three occasions , were conducted by the Rev. C. H. Garland, who with his characteristic keenness, delivered stimulating addresses appropriate to the occasion. Special credit is due to the children who sang well ,and also to the soloists, viz., Misses J. and V. Smith, H. Richards. E. Cass, -■ V. Garland, and Edwards, and the boys Edwards and Norris. Miss Stevens, with her usual ability presided at the organ. i -™~ — •* A Public meeting will this evening ; be held in St. John's Church, when addresses will be given, and the scholars t will repeat their hymns. The meeting wili commence at 7.15, and not 7.30 as previously advertised
