The railway revenue for the colony from the beginning of the financial year to October 31st was £1,296,972, compared with £1,187,665 for the corresponding period of last year. The expenditure was £917,529, compared with £828,972. The proportion of working expenses to revenue, however, shows a rise from 69.47 per cent, to 71.95 per cent. On the Gisborne-Karaka section the revenue was £3208, compared with £2726, and the expenditure £3062, compared with £2048. The proportion of receipts to working expenses on the section show a rise from 75.15 per cent, to 95.45 per cent.
