MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS.
J NEW PLYMOUTH. Wednesday. it The statutory meeting of the Taranaki Petroleum Company to-day was . attended by about £00 shareholders. The meeting was fairly lively at times, j A motion was carried that this meet- . ing of shareholders" consider it would ; be in the best interests of the Company s to withdraw from application the . whole of the unallotted shares of the Company, and that such shares shall not be 'open for application again to the public until at least 14 days' notice is given. The mover explained that he wanted the share list closed until after two bores had been put down on oil. Sixteen nominations were received for the directorate, and i the following were elected :■ — M. Fra- ! ser. 3070; Joseph Little, 2725; H. J. ' H.'OUey, 2407; M. J. Jones, 2394; C. ; E. Bellringer, 1959; J. B. Roy, 1907; D. Berry, 1783. Messrs Berry, Jones, j and Eraser were provisional directors. _ Amongst the defeated candidates were , G. C. Fair (manager) and D. Laing " (late secretary). Great satisfaction was expressed with the result.
