At the Police Court to-day dollil SchiShchkia, a local merchant, was committed for trial on a charge ol imitating the registered brand of the Gisborfld Sheep Farmers' Frozen Meat Company, Limited, stamped upon bags containing bone, flesh, and blood manure, manufacture- by that Company. Evidence was given by Robert Smith, of OnchunlJa, that he ordered from, tho defendant a certain number of bags of Gisborno Company's manure, for which Schishcva was agent. When the consignment was delivered, Smith discovered that the manure was different from and inferior to previous consfignffients. When spoken to on the subject, Schischka at first maintained that the manure was the Gisborne Coy.'s, but he afterwards admitted that it was a substitute. Further evidence was to the effect that the manure supplied by the defendant contained 2.4 per cent., and that of tho Gisborne Co., about 10 per cent, of ammonia. CHRISTCHURCH, March 12.
