PUBLIC MEETING AT NELSON.

A public meeting was held at the Council Chamber last evening to consider the question of the representation of tho Nelson Province at the. International Exhibfition. The Mayor of Nelson presided. and -explained ihe object of the meeting. He sard the district should be repressnted, and he thought the local bodies should be asked to contribute 'towards the expense. The Mayor intimated that 'Mr Mclntyre, tho Exhibition Commission's rcpivsentatflvev. would be pleased to givo any information asked for. Mr Mclii-vre said it was desired that the exhibits at the Exh iibition I should bo educational as regarded I the. products of the colony.- A New Zbaland Court would bo the .centre of\ attraction at -the Exhibition. The total cost of the buildings would be 233,000, tho ',' i..am building 'boing 850 feet by 220 ft. The programme arranged comprised 28 exhibitions of fifoKvorks, organ recitals and concerts, a band contest, and a host of other side shows. The British Government had voted £10,000 towards a British Court, and ho had received information that tho Home Government had appliod for 20,000 additional feet of space.
