RICHMOND A. & C. CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING'.

Favoured wjith the best of weather, good sport, and a large attendance, the Richmond A. •& C. Club should feel, well satisfied with the result of their seventh annual meeting, .which -was held at Richmond JPark. The 10.15 train from town took out a. large number of tho puttriic, and later in the day the attendance almost c/quttlled that of last year's. Tho officials of the club had spant a lot of time in preparation for their meeting, and everything went smoothly, tho

events taiEg got off fairly wfeU to time. The h'andicappev.s had guu&od the capabilities of the performers! to such a nicety, that closo finishes were invjarialbly witnessed, especially in tine Tunning events. In the cycling events, P. Green, a young competitor hailing from Brightwater, scooped tho pool in the amateur events, winning the one, three, and five mile events in capital style. Jacobscn was very successful in the cash events, passing the finishing 1 post in the promier ppsiition both in the two and five mile event?. The decorated events were a featuro of t&9 meetteg, aud in tho best decorated pony c^nlaigLi or grfc competition MesdameiS May and Crford had, by deft hands, transferred a pony carriage ■into a most elairorate and unique design. Surmounted by a canopy composed of creeping fern, oaten sheaves and rred geraniums, tho pony bedecked in gold and- crimson ribbons, the exhioit attracted much

attention, and was deserving of tho applause with- which its appearance was greeted by the crowd. The decorated go-cart, decoratod tandem team, and decollated four-in-hand were adsg woll got up, and some pretty desr|gsns were the outcome of what mush have been several hours hard work. Except for one or two minor mishaps ir) the cycling events, no accidents occurred, fo mar the meeting. Mr J. C. Mercgr carried the pistol ; Messrs J. Glpn, R, T. Sadd, J, M, Croucher, and D. Androw wero judgos ; Messrs L, Kerr and W. Mo3'es carried <out the duties of timekeepers ; and Messrs E. S. Cresswell aud G. Hopfg (running events* and W. N.
