THE COLONY'S DRINK BILL.
AUCKLAND, This Day. The Rev Edward Walker has issued a statement of the drink bill of the colony for the last year based on the Customs and excise returns. He shows that there has been an expenditure of £3,056,590 or £3 10s 7Jd a head of population, being an increase of 3Jd a head, or £103,292 upon the previous year. He considers the amount's to be nearly double if the dilution and purchase by single drinks instead of gallons could be correctly estimated. I
